Infineon Technologies announces new Global Capability Centre at Gift City, Gujarat.

Germany-based semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies on Monday announced that it will set up a Global Capability Centre (GCC) at Gift City in Gujarat which will employ a total of 400 engineers. This is the first GCC that will be set up in Gujarat.

The GCC at Gift City, Monday. Jochen Hanebeck, CEO of Infineon Technologies AG was also present on the occasion along with other top officials from the company.

This GCC in Gujarat will be Infineon’s second GCC in India. “When we began thinking about setting up Infienon’s second GCC in India, we did not want to follow the conventional path of choosing another major technological hub. We wanted to be part of an emerging and unique ecosystem with a massive potential and create opportunities where they matter. Ahmedabad checked all the right boxes. Ahmedabad has been quietly transforming into a major tech hub beginning with fintech and more recently semiconductors.

Jochen Hanebeck CEO of Infineon Technologies AG while addressing the event said the new GCC will engage in R&D for semiconductor chip design, product software information technology, supply chain management as well as systems and applications engineering. “India is an important, strategic market for Infineon, presenting immense opportunities for growth. The market will become even more important in the future. We have set ourselves an ambitious target to achieve Euro 1 billion in annual revenues in India by 2030. This target is a testament to our confidence in India’s potential and our commitment to contributing to its growth and development.
